when you paint sadness perfectly
For years now, Edward Hopper has been my favorite painter. I have a damn painting of his hanging in my apartment. The one on the right, to be more precise. Office in a Small City. Painted in 1953, I just learned this was the only oil painting Hopper finished that year. His wife described it as a “the man in concrete wall.”
It features a signature of Hopper’s work: the solitary figure. It speaks to my introverted soul, I guess.
What follows is a collection of some of my favorite Hopper paintings, for no other reason than to share a thing I love.
